Just to let everyone know about this change that will happen next month, the people in ut99.org already are aware of this (https://ut99.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=1 ... a95452fb94) alongside the oldUnreal team (https://www.oldunreal.com/phpBB3/viewto ... 49&t=10503)

That said, it looks like the change will only affect those that doesn´t update to 469 or modify the UnrealTournament.ini to include community based master servers. Atleast that is what I am understanding after check the ut99.org posts.

For the game itself, I remember Schwartz shares a copy in the Teamspeak server but I don´t know if is still there. Another option is by downloading from the Internet Archive (https://archive.org/details/epic-games-utgoty)
I am just informing here too in the case someone didn´t know about this.

Yes, this is a problem for those unable to use G00gle and Edit their INI files from game.
In 2014 was the same stupid show. GameSpy went out and EPIC often forgot these servers. As result Darkelarious has built another community type "Master Server", which looks better than any original one. All info about changes are at https://333networks.com. I'm using these for my client and servers since 2015.

Emmm. No.
You need to have 469 version. 436 will not help. Am i right? Or, of course, modify the UnrealTournament.ini - which is so much faster solution.

Anyway i have thoughts about that too. First i am surprised they trying to kill UT99. People assume that they try to force old gamers to move to Fortnite so Epic will earn more money. IMHO this is ridiculously naive by Epic. Old retro-gamers will not move to play in unknown to them game with "normies" and 14-year old teenagers.
So whatever corporate logic behind this decision - it is flawed. Since there will pause in UT3 work, and UT4 killed for good, we might expect some people even return to UT99!

An old man speech was sounding like this: Horses are not dying when dogs want.
The thing with Master Servers is OLD. Already in 2014 when GameSpy ceased existence players could figure a lot of empty space in servers browser. This was happening because EPIC already demonstrated outages X times and Y hours. Several players were lost, they moved to other games. After all these, something happened: COMMUNITY support - and UT is accepting custom addresses for uplinking heart-beats and browsing Servers.

Problem #2 is related to sales - there can be a problem but... I don't think that players addicted will quit supporting/playing game that easy...

Okay, It looks like we can´t buy UT99 from Steam and GOG anymore(since december 24th), so it looks like it should be consider abandonware now...
It is sad that Epic Games is abandoning their old games just to have more money (I blame Fornite for this but I may be wrong, still I blame that game for killing all UT)

Now, the only way to have updates and new stuff is by the fans only and good will. But how we get new players to join if no one can buy it anymore...
It is a shame.....

Using Internet archive - https://archive.org/details/ut-99
That is the simplest solution.
But, yeah, from that point we will have deficit of newbies a little bit. This sucks.

I already suggested that but some people might see it as a illegal or piracy, however at this point it is the only option
